EXCLUSIVE INTELLIGENCE SQUARED U.S. DEBATE LIVE STREAM: FORA.tv to Broadcast Debate Live Wednesday, May 7: Death is Not Final

By | Press Release

FORA.tv will present a free live stream of an Intelligence Squared U.S. debate that considers whether or not death is final. Arguing in favor of the motion are Dr. Eben Alexander and Dr. Raymond Moody, against are Sean Carroll and Dr. Steven Novella.

WHAT: FORA.tv, the leading online destination for video programs from the world’s best conferences and events, will broadcast the Intelligence Squared U.S. (IQ2US) Oxford-style debate, “Death is Not Final.”

If consciousness is just the workings of neurons and synapses, how do we explain the phenomenon of near-death experience? By some accounts, about 3% of the U.S. population has had one: an out-of-body experience often characterized by remarkable visions and feelings of peace and joy, all while the physical body is close to death. To skeptics, there are more plausible, natural explanations, like oxygen deprivation. Is the prospect of an existence after death “real” and provable by science, or a construct of wishful thinking about our own mortality?

WHEN: Wednesday, May 7th at 6:45 pm EDT

WHERE: The debate will be streamed live at intelligencesquaredus.fora.tv. The debate will be interactive with a Twitter feed following the conversation around the event. Online viewers will also be able to vote along with the live audience members, sharing their opinion before the debate starts and at the conclusion once all arguments are heard. Following the live event, FORA.tv will offer the debate as a free on-demand program, and the full video and highlights will be available to share and embed.

Affirmative action, when used as a factor in college admissions, is meant to foster diversity and provide equal opportunities in education for underrepresented minorities. But is it achieving its stated goals and helping the population it was created to support?
