Biography

In 2004, Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi became the first woman to hold a ministerial position in the United Arab Emirates. She is also the chief executive of Tejari, an electronic business-to-business marketplace. Before joining Tejari in 2000, Minister Lubna was the senior information systems manager for the Dubai Ports Authority for seven years. She is also a member of various organizations and sits on the boards of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dubai University College, and Thunderbird (The American Graduate School of International Management), among others. Minister Lubna has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from California State University of Chico and an executive MBA from the American University of Sharjah.
