FORA.tv Speaker - Sallie Hofmeister

As assistant managing editor, Sallie Hofmeister oversees arts and entertainment coverage in the Los Angeles Times. She is responsible for the Calendar section and for the media industry coverage in Business. Before being named to her current position in February 2009, Sallie was editor of Business, a winner of the Best in Business award for general excellence from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. She joined The Times in 1995 as an entertainment Business reporter and chronicled the decade-long consolidation of the media industry. In 2006, she became a deputy Business editor, in charge of entertainment and technology coverage. Her team was a finalist in the Gerald Loeb awards for its coverage of the 2007 Hollywood writers' strike. She was promoted to Business editor in May 2008. Prior to The Times, Sallie was an editor in the Business section at the New York Times. She is a graduate of Kansas State University and lives in Silverlake.
