Biography
Michael Dougherty is the CEO and a founder of Jelli, a start-up based in San Mateo, California. Dougherty and his partner Jateen Parekh founded Jelli to reinvent what is possible with the radio, using the power of the web. Jelli allows users to take over a radio station with their browser or mobile device. It's crowdsourcing for the radio, enabling new experiences, content and models.
Prior to Jelli, Dougherty was the vice president of business development at Tellme, a leader in speech applications (acquired by Microsoft in 2007), which pioneered the idea of unlocking the power of everyday devices and the web using speech. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of business & corporate development at Loudeye, an early leader in music web services (acquired by Nokia in 2006). Dougherty spent the first part of his career in investment banking, working on hundreds of financing and M&A transactions and closing deals worth approximately $11 billion. He graduated with honors from Harvard with a degree in History & Literature, and he currently lives with his wife and two boys in Burlingame, California.
