Biography

Regan McMahon is the author of Revolution in the Bleachers: How Parents Can Take Back Family in a World Gone Crazy Over Youth Sports. She is deputy book editor of the San Francisco Chronicle. She is a book critic, feature writer and the children's book editor for the paper, where she has worked for many years.

Formerly a rock critic, editor and feature writer for a California pop music magazine called BAM, she was a French teacher in middle school and high school before she was a journalist. She got her Bachelor of Arts degree in French from the University of California at Berkeley, and went on to get both a teaching credential and a Master of Arts in the Teaching of French from UC Berkeley.

Her husband, Blair Jackson, is also a journalist, a music critic and feature writer as well as an author and biographer. They live in Oakland, California, with their two teenage children.
