Chris Carvalho has spent the last decade at Lucasfilm delivering the highest quality digital media experiences to families around the world. And, as a dedicated father of three young boys, Carvalho has been searching for online educational games in an effort to supplement his children's online entertainment experiences. The general lack of compelling educational games in recent years coupled with Carvalho's own parenting experiences convinced Carvalho that there was an unmet market opportunity. Early in 2008, Carvalho was introduced to SmartyCard's founders, and the SmartyCard business took shape soon thereafter. Most recently at Lucasfilm for over 9 years, Carvalho headed up the company's business development efforts and led the company's strategy and partnerships for Digital Media initiatives. Carvalho also headed up operations and had P&L responsibility for Lucas Online, the division responsible for publishing StarWars.com and other sites, and personally developed all of that group's partnerships, including ones with established companies like Yahoo, Apple, and AOL and startups like Eyespot, Zazzle, and TalkCity. Prior to Lucasfilm, Carvalho spent seven years as a management consultant, with Deloitte & Touche, consulting to executives in a range of companies, from startups to the Fortune 500. Carvalho is a graduate of UCLA's Anderson School of Management and he completed undergrad studies at UC Berkeley.
