Irwin Redlener, M.D., is associate dean of the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and director of The National Center for Disaster Preparedness. He is also President of the Children's Health Fund and has expertise in health care systems, crisis response and public policy with respect to access to health care for underserved populations. Dr. Redlener was Co-Director of the first U.S. Consensus Conference on Pediatric Preparedness for Disasters and Terrorism. He is a founding member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force on Terrorism. Dr. Redlener organized medical response teams in the immediate aftermath of the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11 and has had disaster management leadership experience internationally and nationally. Recently published reports include results of extensive analysis of post 9/11 mental health consequences for children and families.
