Biography

Joel Kotkin is a futurist and an authority on global, economic, political, and social trends. His books include The City: A Global History, The New Geography: How the Digital Revolution is Reshaping the American Landscape and Tribes: How Race, Religion and Identity Determine Success in the New Global Economy. An Irvine Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation, he also consults for economic development organizations, private companies, regions, and cities. He has completed studies on such subjects as the future of suburban development, transportation mobility in the US, and opportunity in urban America. Currently he is writing a book on the American future in the next four decades.
