Dr. Lewis's main fields of interests are Africa and Asia in the Imperial Age from 1800; Colonialism and Development in Eastern and Central Africa; from Empire to Commonwealth, 1815-1994 and Empire and Nation - politics and government in Britain, 1900 to the present.
