Dr. François Godement is founder and president of the Asia Centre in Paris, after directing the Asia programs of the French Institute for International Relations (IFRI) until April 2005. Additionally, he is a professor at the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations (INALCO) in Paris and a consultant to the policy planning staff at the French Foreign Ministry. Dr. Godement has also worked as a consultant with several international organizations, including the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the European Union, and the World Bank. He is co-chair of the European Committee of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific, currently based at Asia Centre, and is a founding member of the Council for Asia-Europe Cooperation. He has written extensively on Chinese reforms and transitions, as well as on East Asian regional and international relations.
