Mary Taverna was originally a nurse and founding member of Hospice By The Bay and later became its executive director then CEO. She was elected foundation president in 1997 and elected president and CEO of Hospice By The Bay and Hospice By The Bay Foundation in 2005. Throughout her 30-year career she has been instrumental in furthering the development of the hospice movement internationally, and serves as Chair of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Board.
