FORA.tv Speaker - Remo Ruffini
Biography
Remo Ruffini is Chairman of the Moncler Group. Known as the entrepreneur of the “global down
jacket,” Mr. Ruffini began his career in the United States at his father’s clothing design and marketing
company, Gianfranco Ruffini Ltd.
In 1984, he founded the New England Company in Italy. He began the Ingrose Woman’s Collection
before selling the company to the Stefanel Group in 2000. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Ruffini served as an
independent industry consultant.
In 2003, Mr. Ruffini took over the Moncler brand. His hands-on approach means that he is involved in
every aspect of the company, working on advertising strategy, image, and product. The concept of the
global down jacket—a jacket for all occasions—redefined the Moncler brand and was a resounding
success. Through partnerships with Balenciaga and Wantanabe, Mr. Ruffini is reinterpreting the quilted
jacket.
In 2006, Moncler launched a high-range line for women, Gamme Rouge, followed by a men’s collection,
Gamme Bleu, in January 2009. Moncler Grenoble launched in 2010.
The goal for the brand is to create the perfect equation: Moncler equals quilted jackets, and quilted
jackets equal Moncler.
