NExTWORK is a one-day, interdisciplinary conference that features world-renowned business leaders, technologists, thinkers and policy makers discussing the promise and peril of the network's future. This first-ever joint collaboration between WIRED and The Economist will create a forum for thought provoking discussion around the transformative power of networks.
Originally designed and built for telephone calls, today voice traffic represents only 7% of overall traffic with data traffic doubling each year on mobile networks alone. Meanwhile, over a third of all Internet traffic is anonymously filtered by governments and corporations, and an estimated half-billion people are currently censored online. Network neutrality, privacy and security are among the most hotly debated topics by consumers, governments and corporations. In addition to these pressing issues, NExTWORK will explore the global impact and opportunities network innovation can create.
