The Library Foundation of Los Angeles presents ALOUD
Since 1993 the Library Foundation of Los Angeles has presented over 1000 ALOUD programs in the Los Angeles Central Library’s Mark Taper Auditorium featuring leading figures in the worlds of literature, the arts and ideas. These dynamic programs are designed to contribute to an informed, engaged, and democratic community and to foster life-long learning in a welcoming environment. The great majority of ALOUD programs are presented free of charge to the people of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation of Los Angeles has raised over $80million in support of the Los Angeles Public Library and its 71 branches since the Central Library’s reopening in 1993 after a devastating fire that claimed some 350,000 books.
