As a thriving part of New York’s vibrant intellectual and cultural life, the CUNY Graduate Center presents a wide range of “Public Programs for the Public Mind,” including concerts, readings, lectures, plays, panel discussions, and art exhibitions. These programs represent a significant facet of the Graduate Center’s three-pronged mission encompassing education, research, and public engagement, all aimed at the highest level of inquiry and discourse.

In the spirit of extending that discourse to the widest possible audience, a selection of programs are recorded and posted here in partnership with Fora TV. If you live in or visit the New York area, we encourage you to attend our programs live as well as viewing them here. These events are not funded with tax dollars, so whether you view them online or attend them in person, we welcome contributions to our annual fund at http://www.gc.cuny.edu/support.

The Graduate Center grants most of the City University of New York’s doctoral degrees, which are awarded in more than 30 fields. Many of those doctoral programs are regularly ranked among the very best in the country and the faculty features numerous internationally renowned scholars. Meanwhile, more than 30 research centers and institutes focus on areas of compelling scientific, social, civic, and cultural interest.
