About Me:
One of the Boomers who fell in love early with mass media, I was weaned of any trace of the truthiness of newspaper reporting early on. Each day, I saw countless proof of the travesty of VietNam pass before my "copyboy" eyes, depicted in gruesome photos the public never got to see, ghastly accounts of first-hand reportage of massacres by our boys in uniform, all up against the silly and phony numbers game of body counts. I could never square all that with what I read in the Chicago Tribune. Fed up with all the lies, I fled the industry and roamed around trying to find some sort of "news junkie" fix that would equal it, but nothing does. I finally drifted back to the news biz just lately and find there's rerally no way to make a living doing it! Sooooo, I'm back to being a "volunteer" reporter now and again. I firmly believe that the struggle for our republic comes down to keeping us informed, in spite of a government hell bent on keeping us in the fog or looking the wrong way, cf., commerical TV. Viva la Raza, baby!
