On Tuesday, November 15th, FORA.tv, the leading online destination for video programs from the world’s best conferences and events, will broadcast the lastIntelligence Squared U.S. (IQ2US) debate of the 2011 season. Intelligence Squared U.S., hailed as America’s premiere debate series, will host a debate on the controversial motion "The World Would Be Better Off Without Religion.” From the crusades to modern fundamentalist terrorists, religious doctrines have been used as a means to justify wars and other atrocities. Yet many people value religion as a source for good, giving followers purpose, while encouraging morality and ethical behavior.
FORA.tv will live stream the debate from the NYU Skirball Center in New York starting at 6:45pm ET (3:45pm PT) on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. The free live online event can be viewed at intelligencesquaredus.fora.tv. Following the live event, FORA.tv will offer the debate as a free on-demand program.
In support of the motion, "The World Would Be Better Off Without Religion," are Matthew Chapman, co-founder of Science Debate and great-great grandson of Charles Darwin, and A.C. Grayling, renowned atheist and professor of philosophy. Against the motion are Dinesh D'Souza, author of "What's So Great About Christianity?" and Rabbi David Wolpe, named #1 Pulpit Rabbi in America by Newsweek. ABC News Nightline's John Donvan will moderate the debate.
