Renowned architect and industrial designer Michael Graves shares his insights on universal design and design's direct influence on quality of life.

Amanda Dameron has been a design and architecture editor since the early aughts, working and writing for such publications as Dwell, Architectural Digest, Urbis, Conde Nast Traveler, Los Angeles Magazine and Elle Decor UK. She is a champion procrastinator and excels at sitting quietly for long periods of time.
Michael Graves is the founding partner, Michael Graves and Associates and Michael Graves Design Group, and a fellow of the American Institute of Architects and the Robert Schirmer professor of architecture, emeritus at Princeton University. Cited in The New York Times as "the most truly original voice American architecture has produced in some time," Graves has received many prestigious awards, including the 2010 Topaz Medallion from the American Institute of Architects and the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, the 2001 Gold Medal from the American Institute of Architects, and the 1999 National Medal of Arts. Graves is the first architect inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame and the first recipient of the Michael Graves Lifetime Achievement Award from the AIA-NJ. In 1960, he won the Rome Prize and studied at the American Academy in Rome, of which he is now a trustee. In 1962, Graves began a 39-year teaching career at Princeton University.

Michela O’Connor Abrams is President of Dwell Media, the award-winning media company founded in 2000 by Lara Deam. Michela’s ten years of leadership at Dwell has led to General Excellence at the National Magazine Awards, finalist in the corporate category for the prestigious National Design Awards, and National recognition for both circulation growth and newsstand sales. She has led the development and growth of Dwell Media’s digital platforms including web, mobile, and tablet products which were recently recognized as “#1 Most Innovative” in Affinity Research’s August 2011 survey. Ms. O'Connor Abrams herself was honored with EWIP’s prestigious 2012 “Exceptional Woman in Publishing Award” bestowed upon women leading and innovating in media, a few past recipients include Gloria Steinem, Maria Rodale, Lynn Povich, and Eleanor Clift. In 2005 Michela was honored by Media Industry News as their “Sales Leader of the Year.” In 2011 she was an honored Alumni of the Year by her alma mater Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo for the School of Liberal Arts. Michela is a former President of the Board of Goodweave, Chairman of Home & Gift for Project Angel Food’s Divine Design and sits on the boards of MPA’s Independent Magazine Advisory Group and Linguastat, while also serving on the Board of Trustees for the Marin Horizon School. She is a sought-after speaker on leadership, media, design, and business and is always excited to spread her passion for good design and business innovation with others. She will be a returning speaker at Yale this summer for its prestigious Yale Publishing Course geared to mid-level executives. Ms. O’Connor Abrams lives in Mill Valley, California with her husband Alan, a wine entrepreneur, and their thirteen year old daughter, Taylor.
