Bio
Deedee Corradini
Deedee Corradini is president of the International Women’s Forum. She currently serves as president of Women’s Ski Jumping USA, is a senior distinguished fellow in urban studies at the Richard W. Riley Institute of Government, Politics and Public Leadership at Furman University, and is senior vice president of Prudential Utah Real Estate.
Corradini is a former mayor of Salt Lake City, serving from 1992 to 2000, and was president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. She has served in federal and state government posts and, in the
private sector, on numerous boards of directors. As mayor, Corradini was instrumental in her city’s successful bid for the 2002 Winter Olympics. In the years that followed, she advocated for, and worked with, elite women ski jumpers from 18 countries around the world to push for women’s inclusion in the Winter Olympic Games. While ski jumping has been an Olympic event since 1924, it was the only event that did not allow women to compete. After a hard-fought, seven year campaign conducted by the women’s ski jumping movement, the International Olympic Committee announced on April 6, 2011, that women ski jumpers would compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
Corradini was born in Providence, R.I., and grew up in Lebanon and Syria, where she lived for 11 years. She has served on a number of non-profit and corporate boards across the U.S. and in the Middle East.
Doug Guthrie
Doug Guthrie, dean, professor of international business, and professor of management at the George Washington University School of Business, is an expert in the fields of economic reform in China, leadership and corporate governance, and corporate social responsibility. Prior to joining GW, Guthrie served as professor of management at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. He also held a joint appointment as professor of sociology on NYU’s arts and sciences faculty and was director of executive education at NYU Stern from 2007-09.
Guthrie has held visiting positions at Harvard Business School, INSEAD, and the graduate schools of business at Stanford University, Columbia University, and Emory University. He served as director of the Business Institutions Initiative at the Social Science Research Council (1999-2003) and was the academic director of the Berlin School of Creative Leadership from 2008-11.
Guthrie holds an AB in East Asian languages and civilizations with a concentration in Chinese literature from the University of Chicago. He earned his master’s and PhD degrees in organizational sociology from the University of California, Berkeley. Fluent in Mandarin Chinese, Guthrie studied in Taipei, Taiwan, during his undergraduate years and conducted his doctoral research in Shanghai, China.
Guthrie has authored, co-authored, and edited numerous books, articles, and reports on Chinese economic reform, leadership, and corporate social responsibility. His doctoral research was
recognized with the American Sociological Association’s national award for top dissertation in the field in 1997. He has also been the recipient of teaching awards, best paper awards, and grants from the Ford and Alfred P. Sloan foundations.
Andrea Roane
Andrea Roane joined Washington, D.C.’s W*USA Channel 9 in 1981, where she currently co-anchors “9 NEWS NOW,” from 4:25 to 7 a.m. A multi-Emmy and Gracie award winner, she has covered news from across the U.S. and around the world. She has interviewed newsmakers, entertainers, and politicians, including former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton; former First Ladies Rosalynn Carter and Laura Bush; Dr. Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden; Archbishop Desmond Tutu; country artist and star of “The Voice,” Blake Shelton; and Elmo. Widely recognized for her commitment to women’s health, in 2006 Roane was named one of The Washingtonian magazine’s “Washingtonians of the Year,” for her continued work on breast cancer awareness through her “Buddy Check 9” initiative.
