Bio

Ron Fournier

Ron Fournier is the first editor responsible for editorial strategy and execution for all of the National Journal Group products across all platforms: web, print, video, and live events. He also contributes to 2012 Decoded. Prior to joining National Journal, he worked at The Associated Press for 20 years, most recently as Washington bureau chief. Starting with a posting in Little Rock to cover Bill Clinton’s second term as governor of Arkansas, Mr. Fournier moved to Washington to report on the Clinton White House. He has won numerous awards for his work, including the Society of Professional Journalists’ Sigma Delta Chi Award for coverage of the 2000 elections. He is a four-time winner of the prestigious White House Correspondents’ Association Merriman Smith Memorial Award. In 2005, Mr. Fournier co-wrote Applebee’s America, a New York Times best-seller that examined the shared attributes of successful political, business, and religious leaders.

Jill Lawrence

Jill Lawrence is National Journal’s managing editor for politics and also writes for 2012 Decoded. Her previous positions have included senior correspondent and columnist for Politics Daily, national political correspondent for USA Today, and national political writer for The Associated Press. Ms. Lawrence has also written about politics and policy for The Daily Beast, The Atlantic, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other publications. She has covered every presidential campaign since 1988 and many other historic events, including the Three Mile Island nuclear accident, the 1994 Republican takeover of Congress, the Clinton impeachment, the 2000 Florida recount, and the 1993 and 2009 battles over health reform.

Ms. Lawrence has won national recognition for her work, most recently a Sigma Delta Chi award from the Society of Professional Journalists in 2010 for her Politics Daily columns. In 2004, Columbia Journalism Review named her one of the top 10 campaign reporters in the country. Her deep, detailed reporting for “One Nation, Divided,” a multi-part series published in USA Today in 2002, was featured in the IRE Journal. Ms. Lawrence has taught journalism at American University and has appeared at other universities as a guest lecturer and panelist. She is a University of Michigan graduate and holds a master’s degree in journalism from New York University.

Beth Reinhard

Beth Reinhard is a political correspondent for National Journal and also contributes to 2012 Decoded. Prior to joining National Journal in November, Reinhard was the political writer at The Miami Herald. She covered local, statewide and national campaigns and wrote a weekly column on politics for 11 years. She previously worked at The Palm Beach Post, Education Week and The Home News. Born and raised in Miami, Reinhard received her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.
