Sylvia Reyes, Director of Apparel & Textiles Sourcing at Proexport Colombia, shares the opportunities for trade and apparel manufacturing collaboration between the U.S. and Colombia.
Sylvia Reyes is Apparel and Textiles Sourcing Director at Proexport Colombia, the Colombian government trade bureau. From her office in New York City, Mrs. Reyes is strengthening business opportunities with the U.S. market and the Colombian industry after the signing and implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between both countries.
Ms. Reyes’ experience includes the execution of export plans to help the Colombian industry to enter into the U.S.A. She has been involved in different paths of development related to international relations and trade in Colombia and abroad. She completed specialization in trade and international
relations and earned three degrees in the field. She has published several papers about the last 10 years of textiles trade between the United States and Colombia.
Ms. Reyes received major awards for exceeding expected results from 2005 to 2009. In Colombia, she was in charge of the textile program with all countries around the world, as well as export diversification strategy from 2009 to 2010. Ms. Reyes also served as Director for Commercial Information at Proexport Colombia, and she was tasked with helping to coordinate the strategy, studies, and preparation for the free trade agreements signed with Canada, Switzerland, the United States, Central America and those to be signed with the European Union and Korea.
