Anusha Chari
Professor Chari's research is in the fields of open-economy macroeconomics, international finance and empirical corporate finance. Her most recent work uses firm-level data to examine the effects of financial globalization on topics such as outbound FDI from emerging-markets, cross-border M&A, the political economy of protectionism, the rate of return to capital in capital-poor countries and the evolution of India's industrial composition following liberalization. Her earlier work on stock market liberalization uncovers new stylized facts about the interaction of real and financial markets using firm-level data. These facts complement a growing body of literature that documents the importance of financial development for economic growth.
Anusha received a PhD in International Finance from The Anderson School at UCLA and an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Balliol College at Oxford University. In addition to teaching at the University of North Carolina, she has taught both international and finance courses at University of Chicago's Booth School of Business , the University of Michigan, and the Haas School of Business at Berkeley. She is also a Faculty Research Fellow in the National Bureau of Economic Research's International Finance and Macroeconomics Program.
Sadanand Dhume
Sadanand Dhume is a journalist and writer with a long-standing interest in Asia. He has recently completed a book on the rise of radical Islam in Indonesia.
As a former Indonesia correspondent of the Far Eastern Economic Review and The Asian Wall Street Journal in Jakarta, Sadanand covered Indonesia's economic, political, security, and social scene. Before that, he was the New Delhi bureau chief of FEER.
Rana Hasan
Mr. Hasan is a development economist specializing in poverty, inequality, and labor market issues using survey data. His division undertakes policy research on critical development issues and public policies to improve economic efficiency and poverty reduction; formulates and implements statistical capacity building programs for ADB developing member countries with weak statistical systems; and generates a statistical database and annual statistical publication that provides economic, financial, and social indicators at the macro level.
Pravin Krishna
Pravin Krishna (born 1969) is Chung Ju Yung Distinguished Professor of International Economics and Business [1] at the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and the Department of Economics in the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. Krishna holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University and a B. Tech in Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.[2] He is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of International Economics. Krishna was previously Professor of Economics at Brown University and has held academic appointments at Princeton University, Stanford University and the University of Chicago.
Devashish Mitra
I am Professor of Economics and Gerald B. and Daphna Cramer Professor of Global Affairs at the Maxwell School, Syracuse University. I was the Chair of the Economics Department at Syracuse University from July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2010.
I am Coeditor, Economics and Politics , Associate Editor, European Economic Review, Associate Editor, Journal of Development Economics, Associate Editor, Journal of International Economics, Associate Editor, International Journal of Business and Economics, Associate Editor, International Review of Economics and Finance and Member of the Editorial Board of the Review of International Economics and of ISRN Economics. I am also a member of the trade program of the International Growth Centre, UK based at the LSE and Oxford, a fellow of the CESifo network, a research professor at the Ifo Institute, Munich and a research fellow at the IZA, Bonn.
Rana Hasan of the Asian Development Bank notes that over eighty percent of workers in India's apparel industry work in small firms of less than eight people. Compared to China's industry, which leans more heavily toward larger enterprises, he questions if something about India's business environment affects potential for growth.
