Ali Amr

It's a safe bet that most students spent a lot of time practicing before coming to Berklee. Ali Amr, 18, had extra motivation: Growing up in the Palestinian territories from the age of 7, sometimes he wasn't allowed outside. Fortunately, his family filled the house with music. It started bearing fruit for Amr early: Arabic/jazz star Simon Shaheen recognized his talent at the age of 10.

Nidal Ibourk

Nidal Ibourk is a virtuous singer and a multi-talented artist based in Chicago. Nidal was born and raised in Morocco and moved to the U.S. to continue her postgraduate studies. Currently, she is pursuing her Master's Degree in Human Resources Development.

Simon Shaheen

Simon Shaheen is a Palestinian-American oud and violin virtuoso and composer. At the age of 2, Shaheen moved with his family to Haifa, but spent most of the weekends in Tarshiha, an Arabic town under Israeli sovereignty. The Shaheen family is known for its musicality with music instructor and father Hikmat, oud-playing and instrument-making brother Najib, violinist and oud playing William, and singing sisters Laura and Rosette.
