Interesting Facts about Charlize Theron
- Charlize originally wanted to be a dancer, but her knees gave out, and she was forced to turn to acting.
- She won a modelling contest at the age of 16, and modeled in Europe, but never saw modelling as a lifelong career.
- She has said that her mother is her biggest influence.
- After she was forced to give up dance, her mother bought her a one-way ticket to Los Angeles so she could try making it in Hollywood.
- Her first language is Afrikaans, and had to spend a lot of time getting rid of her South African accent.

- Jason was inspired to pick up the book Up in the Air because there was a quote on the cover from Christopher Buckley, who had written the novel Thank You for Smoking, which was the first feature film Jason directed. Up in the Air is his third feature film he has directed.
