It's seams to me that he is overlooking google Chrome and Apps. Also the recent move of Microsoft to *everything html5*. Furthermore, apps become multiplataform which may in time turn the iPad less relevant to the show. ( http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/04...nect_armchair/ ). Apart from that its enlightening to say the least, in particularly the diagnostic that MS is becoming less and less relevant. I agree that we have a blank sheet once again to play on and that the iPad is definitely the device to test it on.

I found the entire hour to be enlightening, but the parts on Google's Index Search issues and Apple's strategy around HTML 5 to be particularly fascinating.

I think this is quite a reactionary analysis providing for overlooked proprietary software companies which are in real trouble under Internet's access openness. The obvious next step in this train of thought is users don't have individual needs [...] Suggesting that closed environments (simple, for "stupid" users) are the future seems not only equivocated but tendentious. The actual key is openness: Peer review and availability in so called " apps ", not branding them under umbrella terms like "Apple" or "Facebook". The comparison of Apple iOS vs Android in terms of security is just hilarious: Facts speak against Apple, just like Facebook and all the troubles they had with their users. Peer review is vital, yet our host buys into the idea of "trust in a Logo no matter if you are prevented to know what happens inside the device".
