Always enjoy David Brooks. As we have increasingly embraced technology, we have moved away from the importance of connection, subsuming face to face interaction with texting, and proximity with the illusion that it can be replaced by communication. As a parent of a twenty-something adult, who uses social media and texting for 90% of all communication, I see the struggle with the lack of social cues and body language which enriches understanding. Misunderstanding of intent and meaning corresponds with nearly all their "communication".
