Kevin Dasso
Kevin Dasso is Senior Director of Smart Grid and Technology Integration at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Kevin has over 29 years of experience in the gas and electric utility business including engineering, operations, construction and asset management. Kevin is currently responsible for developing strategy and policies for the utility related to electric system reliability, planning, renewable resource integration and the Smart Grid. He reports to PG&E's lead senior officer responsible for Smart Grid and leads the company's Smart Grid team involving the Engineering and Operations, Customer Care and Information Technology Services departments. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in California and is a member of the IEEE Power Engineering Society. He also participates in the Western Electricity Coordinating Council, Reliability Policy Issues Committee, and is a former chair of the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) Planning Committee Reliability Assessment Subcommittee. Kevin received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Iowa State University and a M.S. in Electric Engineering at Santa Clara University. He has also attended the UCLA Engineering and Management Program.
John Doerr
John Doerr was founding CEO of Silicon Compilers, a CAD software company and co-founder of the first broadband cable network, @Home.
He came to Silicon Valley in 1974 and joined a small chipmaker, Intel, just as they invented the legendary 8080 microprocessor. He worked in engineering, marketing, and sales, where he was a top-ranked sales executive.
Mozhi Habibi
Mozhi Habibi is a member of the Global Energy & Utilities Strategy & Solutions Team. She is the Global Strategy Manager responsible for leading IBM's emerging energy and utility solutions for clients worldwide. In her role, she is focused on working with utility companies, industry partners and others to accelerate the development of an intelligent utility network, integration of renewable energy sources and distributed energy assets, implementation of a smarter grid and smarter cities worldwide. Previously, Mozhi was the head of Product Management at Space-Time Insight, a provider of geospatial situational awareness software, responsible for overall product strategy. Prior to this, she was Sr. Director of Strategic Marketing at Ventyx a company in the energy, utility and telecommunication industries providing asset and workforce management and smart grid operations solutions. Prior to its acquisition by Ventyx in 2007, Mozhi was responsible for market strategy, new product innovation and product management at Global Energy Decisions and Henwood Energy, providers of energy operations, analytics and ETRM software for the energy and utility industry. Mozhi started her career in the energy industry as a field engineer, with General Electric Energy. Mozhi serves on the board of a number of non-profit organizations with a focus on Education. She received her Bachelors degree in aeronautical engineering from California Polytechnic State University, in San Luis Obispo and her masters in business administration from San Jose State University. Mozhi lives with her husband and 2 children in San Carlos, California.
Vinod Khosla
Vinod Khosla is the president and CEO of Khosla Ventures. In 1986, he became a general partner Kleiner Perkins, where he took on Intel's monopoly with Nexgen/AMD.
In 2004, Khosla started Khoslaventures in order to create technologies that can have a beneficial effect and economic impact on society. Khosla assists or serves on the boards of a number of technology based companies.
He is also a charter member of TIE, a non-profit global network of entrepreneurs and professionals, and a founding board member for the Indian School of Business.
Lee Krevat
Lee Krevat is director of the smart grid initiative for Sempra Energy's California regulated utilities, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and Southern California Gas Company.
James L. Sweeney
James (Jim) Sweeney, is Director of the Precourt Institute for Energy Efficiency; Professor of Management Science and Engineering; Senior Fellow of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research; Senior Fellow of the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace; and Senior Fellow of the Stanford Institute for International Studies.
His professional activities focus on economic policy and analysis, particularly in energy, natural resources, and the environment.
At Stanford he has served as chairman of the Department of Engineering-Economic Systems, chairman of the Department of Engineering-Economic Systems and Operations Research, Director of the Energy Modeling Forum, Chairman of the Institute for Energy Studies, and Director of the Center for Economic Policy Research (now the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research). In the early 1970's he was Director of the Office of Energy Systems Modeling and Forecasting of the U.S. Federal Energy Administration. He was a founding member of the International Association for Energy Economics, co-editor of the Journal Resource and Energy Economics, and vice-president for publications of the International Association for Energy Economics. He is a Senior Fellow of the U.S. Association for Energy Economics and a Fellow of the California Council on Science and Technology. He is on the National Advisory Council of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and a member of Governor Schwarzenegger's Council of Economic Advisors.
He holds a B.S. degree from MIT in Electrical Engineering and a Ph.D. from Stanford University in Engineering-Economic Systems.
Raj Vaswani
Raj has been with Silver Spring since 2003, and brings more than 10 years of innovation, product development and product management experience in the Internet, software and networking industries to the Company. Prior to joining Silver Spring, Raj was an Entrepreneur in Residence with Foundation Capital. Prior to Foundation Capital, Raj served as Vice President of Engineering at Epinions.com (now shopping.com), a high-traffic consumer-oriented Web site. Previously, Raj was Senior Scientist and Director of Engineering for the @Home Network (later Excite@Home). Raj holds a MS in Computer Science from the University of Washington and a BS in EECS from the University of California at Berkeley. Raj is an avid recycler and took the lead responsibility for Silver Spring's paperless office initiative.
Saul Zambrano
Saul Zambrano is Director of Pacific PG&E's Integrated Demand-side Management Core Products team. Saul's team is responsible for developing new products within existing energy efficiency product categories such as lighting and appliances, electronics, HVAC, and energy management. In addition, Saul's team is responsible for PG&E's customer offerings in the emerging area of electric vehicles. Prior to joining PG&E, Mr. Zambrano was Director of the Global Finance Transformation Initiative for Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Director of WiMAX Solutions Commercial Marketing for Intel Corporation. Mr. Zambrano began his career as IT consultant and business development and finance professional with Nortel Networks, IBM Consulting, and JP Morgan. Mr. Zambrano received an MBA from Southern Methodist University and a BA in Economics from the University of Texas El Paso.
Principle of physics according to which the energy of interacting bodies or particles in a closed system remains constant, though it may take different forms (e.g., kinetic energy, potential energy, thermal energy, energy in an electric current, or energy stored in an electric field, in a magnetic field, or in chemical bonds [seebonding]).
