I like how Paula Deen rose to fame from very humble beginnings and love her cooking show no doubt. But she definitely went overboard with some of her more unhealthy kitchen creations like the donut burger she talks about in the video.
With her recent statement admitting she has developed type 2 diabetes, it's good to see she is now advocating healthier eating habits and recipes.

Interesting Facts about Paula Deen:
- Paula used her last $200, to start “The Bag Lady,” a home-based meal delivery service that marked the start of her professional cooking career.
- She overcame poverty, doubt and agoraphobia to achieve success and acclaim as a chef
- She began cooking outside her home and started preparing meals at a Best Western motel in Savannah before finally opening her first restaurant, The Lady and Sons, with her two sons.
- In 1999, USA Today food critic Jerry Shriver named The Lady and Sons “International Meal of the Year.”
- She has written a number of successful cookbooks, many of which are filled with traditional Southern recipes.
- She has faced criticism for the high fat, sugar, and salt contents in her recipes.
- Paula’s relationship with the Food Network began in 1999. Her own show, Paula’s Home Cooking premiered in 2002. Paula’s Party premiered in 2006, and Paula’s Best Dishes debuted in 2008.
- Paula has won two Emmy Awards.
- She tries hard to give back to the community, working with America’s Second Harvest, and serving on the board of the Bethesda Home for Boys.
- Deen was a judge on the popular cooking show Top Chef.
- She made her film debut in the movie Elizabethtown, where she played the aunt of Orlando Bloom’s character. Her cooking was heavily featured.
