I hope this fellow builds railroads faster than he says anything meaningful. I listened for 18 minutes, and all he said was, "We can build it. California wants it built. We're committed to building it. We need money from the federal government." It doesn't look like anything else he has to say matters either. I used to be excited about publicly funded rail until I read "The Best Laid Plans" by Randal O'Toole of the Cato Institute. He shows that high speed and light rail projects are pie-in-the-sky scams perpetrated by pandering politicians who want $80,000,000,000 projects for their states.
