Heinz Ickstadt delivers a presentation at the Salzburg Global Seminar during the American Studies Alumni Association 2010 Symposium. This meeting was held in honor of Emory Elliott, and was entitled "American Literary History in a New Key".
Professor Ickstadt speaks about the phenomenon of Modernism, after the onslaught of the New Historians, and the New Americanists. He compares European Modernism with American Modernism, through analysis of several Modernist artists. He focuses on Ezra Pound's, The Cantos, as an important and misunderstood lens, through which American Modernism can be viewed.
