We should keep in mind that Fareed Zakaria is someone of Muslim background.

The logic of one's arguments should stand on their own, of course. But he is also in a position to tilt the discussion table.

Sunday he had a lineup of ultra-liberals on CNN all agreeing that the controversy over the Mosque at Ground Zero was about discrimination against a minority group and nothing more -- something people do because they are grumpy during a recession. He had nobody with a contrary view -- a view, for example, that is based on some knowledge of historic Islamic behaviour and intentions. Daniel Pipes might have been a good addition to the group.

UN starves and denies shipment of medicines to half a million iraqi children in sanctions alone.

a couple hundred thousand civilians in operation iraqi freedom bombed.

x amount of people killed from steel rain and daisy cutters.

thousands of deformed and dead babies in Fallujah alone

(maybe due to all the shake and bake missions with white phosphorus that we did, which we then plowed the remains of "the city of Mosques" into the river from which they drink. or maybe it was the thousands of tons of DU we used. the incinerators (from which 500 US vets have gotten sick from) couldn't have helped. perhaps some old reminiscence of chemical and biological weapons like anthrax and the bubonic plague Saddam used, that he got from us and used as we remained silent. blowing up the chemical facilities in DS1?)

less than 3500 people working for companies who made these things possible for iraq killed by hijacked airplanes that iraq had nothing to do with. it should have been avoided.

***

don't worry when we run out of water and the added 1.5 billion are here we'll use our unilateral power to use nuclear, chemical and biological weapons where need be. by then we'll probably have our space based lasers and rods from god in or...bit to help deliver strikes within minutes of a given command.

the most powerful institution known to humanity is takin' our future. they state they will do all this and more.
