Keynote address by Patricia O'Brien, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs: "Current Challenges Facing the United Nations Legal Office."
This lecture was delivered at the seventh Brandeis Institute for International Judges (BIIJ), held from 25 to 30 July 2010 at the Salzburg Global Seminar in Salzburg, Austria. The Institute was attended by sixteen judges from thirteen international courts and tribunals, including the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, and the European Court of Human Rights, as well as more specialized institutions such as the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
Its theme this year, "Toward an International Rule of Law," encompassed topics including the fairness of international law, the accessibility of international courts and tribunals, and the impact of diversity on the establishment of an international rule of law. The Institute also continued a tradition of examining ethical issues faced by members of the international judiciary.
The Salzburg Global Seminar is grateful to Justice Richard Goldstone, a member of its Board of Directors, for bringing this distinguished gathering to its historic headquarters, Schloss Leopoldskron in the city of Salzburg.

On August 6, 2008, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced the appointment of Patricia O'Brien of Ireland as Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and United Nations Legal Counsel. Ms. O'Brien is the first woman in this position in the history of the United Nations.
International organization founded (1945) at the end of World War II to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations on equal terms, and encourage international cooperation in solving intractable human problems. A number of its agencies have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace, and the UN was the corecipient, with Kofi Annan, of the prize in 2001. The term originally referred to the countries that opposed the Axis powers. An international organization was discussed at the Yalta Conference in February 1945, and the UN charter was drawn up two months later at the UN Conference on International Organization. The UN has six principal organs: the Economic and Social Council, the United Nations General Assembly, the International Court of Justice, the Secretariat, the United Nations Security Council, and the United Nations Trusteeship Council. It also has several specialized agencies—some inherited from its predecessor, the League of Nations (e.g., the International Labour Organization)—and a number of special offices (e.g., the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees), programs, and funds (e.g., UNICEF). The UN is involved in economic, cultural, and humanitarian activities and the coordination or regulation of international postal services, civil aviation, meteorological research, telecommunications, international shipping, and intellectual property. Its peacekeeping troops have been deployed in several areas of the world, sometimes for lengthy periods. The UN's world headquarters are in New York City. In 2005 the UN had 192 member countries. The principal administrative officer of the UN is the secretary-general, who is elected to a five-year renewable term by the General Assembly on the recommendation of the Security Council. The secretaries-general of the UN have been Trygve Lie (1946–53), Dag Hammarskjöld (1953–61), U Thant (1961–71), Kurt Waldheim (1972–81), Javier Pérez de Cuéllar (1982–91), Boutros Boutros-Ghali (1992–96), Kofi Annan (1997–2006), and Ban Ki-moon (2007– ).
Just look at all the ridiculous agreements we have with Israel, especially with regards to oil supply, and weaponization. There is no other answer to our ties with the UN other than blackmail. They either indirectly run this country, or, run our military (and have the football)...
These NWO schmucks, and the NGO's that spawn from them like maggots on a carcase are repulsive. America has been defending their sorry asses for 65 years. All the while constantly bashing us in their newspapers and news stations for wars and security that they directly benefit from. They have engaged in the pilfering of this once wealthy nation with their Rothschilian centralized banking scheme, and fractional lending, and have sucked us dry. America has been playing the scapegoat for global interests for far too long. As mentioned above, they are a criminal empire. Their only aim is a one world government, and they no longer hide it. They have pulled the curtains on their very own shenanigans, and they are waiting for the audience to react. They also want to turn America into one big national park under the guise of the "smart growth", "sustainable development", "wild-lands" all devised at the Rio summit of 92'. They are in the process of taking over our very sovereignty, and have partly done so in Oregon, Idaho, Washington, and many other states as part of their Agenda 21 campaign, and ICLEI. Whats worse is their pro-active assault on the middle-class through artificial, intentionally manufactured crises like the housing market crash. We need to back out of any and all dealings with this den of thieves and declare war on them if necessary, they are trying to choke the life out of us. I often wonder if they're the ones that built the Georgia Guide Stones. The truth is they hate us, and want to redistribute our wealth to the rest of the world, disarm us, stack us in cities, declare 90% of America "off-limits", and even "thin the heard".... WE NEED TO CUT THIS PARASITIC BLOODSUCKER OFF!
Haha It is amazing how arrogant these globalists are with their speeches. First of all,all this content is null and void. It is meaningless. The UN has no authority to be engaging in international affairs of states. I will speak of the USA, which I come from. Her talk is much like a group of organised crime heads getting together and forming a group called "United Nations of anti-criminals for a better world"( which in UN talk means, pro-criminal ).Then having their attorneys give speeches about changing laws on a global scale and by-passing sovereign countries constitutions, to sell more drugs. Enough already ! We the people of the USA do not have time to play with you any longer. Enjoy your time, the USA will break up the UN soon. Go start your own country and make all the tyrannic laws you want, but leave the USA only.
