That's weird, Boycetalbert -- I think those were almost the exact words I was using from 2000 - 2008.

Just reading this thread, my only comment is what an obnoxious bunch of biased liberals who are sadly lacking in historical perspective.

This quote, supposedly, came from the Czech Republic. But whether it does or not, someone has Obama figured out. We have a lot of work to do.

"The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president."

This is the same outrageous group who thought breaking the Constitution was necessary and allowed the torture men and women at Gitmo and Abu Grahib.

This is the same outrageous group that sought a way to make the weak links on the Supreme Court give corporations the ability to put millions of dollars into political campaigns anonymously, to overrule the will of the majority.

This is the same outrageous group that creates nice sounding titles like "Clean Skies Act" to weaken existing clean-air regulations, loosen caps on a range of air pollutants, delay the enforcement of smog and soot standards, and exempt power plants from rules requiring them to comply with modern emission standards.

This man knows how to whip gullible and uninformed people into a frenzy. It's his agenda.

Be careful when you use the argument that, "America's founding fathers could not even begin to imagine a man-made, environmental disaster of the scope of the BP Gulf Oil spill" as justification for Obama's extraordinary use (misuse?) of powers.
Such an argument can be used for most anything nowadays. - In fact, however, the Founding Fathers DID foresee if not the circumstances, at least the probability that government (one branch or the other) would, if not checked, tend to abuse its powers. Thus was born the Bill of Rights, which specified what Government specifically could NOT do. Seizing property without due process is, plain and simple, against the law of the land (and presumably, the sea).

The point would be well taken if these were ordinary times. But we are at war and the Bush administration claimed and practiced extraordinary powers during its tenure. The war has not ended. Maybe the only "mistake" Obama has made is that he failed to use the war powers act as justification for taking the course he chose. Certainly an second blow out would over tax the nation's response resources, further destroy the Gulf region and put us in a far less secure position vis a vis the middle east.

Armey is absolutely correct in his statement that Obama has NO authority to decide compensation in this matter. That being said, Armey's wrong to politicize this issue, just as Obama is equally wrong to have politicized the issue...they BOTH look like idiots.

Obama puffs up his chest to make it APPEAR he's tough and 'in charge' when, in fact, if BP were to have resisted, everything would take years to be decided in the courts, which would have been a disaster by itself. Armey is being equally stupid by pressing his argument against Obama's 'fake' power grab, even though he's correct. As bad as this may initially sound, we are indeed fortunate BP has decided not to resist taking responsibility for paying.

Anyone who thinks the Tea Party people are not real simply isn't paying attention. The buffoonery displayed by both Armey and Obama in this case, for example, is precisely the reason why...the Tea Party people are sick of all this crap.

The Tea Party begins to look more and more like the "Club of Stockholm Syndrome Sufferers of Modern American Capitalism".

How sad.

The most profound problems facing us can be summed up in two words: corporate power. The determination of the Tea Party to enshrine corporate control of our government, is not only dangerous, but wildly incorrect. Given that BP is a Corporation, not a citizen, Mr. Armey is egregiously misapplying the Constitution. The Founders, at the behest of supporters of the original Tea Party, tightly controlled corporate behavior, activity and very existence (charters were finite by design, rarely more than ten years). BP must pay for the destruction is has caused, but should not control either the process or compensation.

Perhaps those health insurance companies could have at least provided free spell-checking services and/or signs for TEA party events, no? I guess it was their evil plan all along to use misspellings so as to not seem as if they are astroturf.
