Andres Rozental
Andres Rozental is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations, (Consejo Mexicano de Asuntos Internacionales), a non-profit "think tank" created in 2001 with the specific objective of providing a responsive institutional framework within which various sectors of Mexican society can contribute to a better understanding of how the global context influences Mexico, as well as what the country's role in the world arena should be. The Council is an autonomous, non-political association, without government ties, that constitutes an open, plural and independent forum for analysis and dialogue in order to provide input into the decision-making process and the shaping of foreign policy.
Ambassador Rozental holds non-executive Board positions in important multinational corporations in Spain, the Netherlands, France, the United Kingdom and Mexico.
Ambassador Rozental obtained his professional degree in international relations from the Universidad de las Americas in Mexico, and his Masters in International Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He also did postgraduate studies at the University of Bordeaux in France. He is a part-time professor of international relations at the ITAM university and has been a member of the editorial board of the Reforma newspaper. He is the author of three books on Mexican foreign policy and of numerous articles on international affairs. He is a member of the board of Foreign Affairs en espanol. In June 2002, he was elected a member of the Board of the Stockholm-based International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) and is currently its Vice Chair. He is also a Member of the Inter-American Dialogue an is on the Board of the Pacific Council for International Policy.
From December 1, 2000 to 31 December, 2001, Andres Rozental served as Ambassador-at-large and special presidential envoy. On January 1, 2002 he was elected Founding President of the Council for the period of 2002-2006. He is currently a foreign policy advisor to the Mexican Government.
