What utter none-sense. Please understand ownership means a country can legally, if it wants to, set all the antiquities you westerners want to study in a giant pile and set it on fire. And you can't say boo.

What you are really doing here is crying over your once universal privilege to take what you want and do as you like before the middle of the last century. Appreciation and study doesn't equal ownership or right of access. Understand it.

I love the fact that you've convenient skirted around the fact the vast majority of outside antiquities in the western world came not from local government sanctioned expeditions but colonial brigandage. As far as I'm concerned, only when you've returned all artifacts taken as loot during times of war or plundered without, there will be no meaningful cooperation and your studies will stagnate.
