I find his use of the Bocage post D Day interesting. "We knew every grain of sand..." For the US had refused the use of "Hobart's Funnies" the 79th Armd Div RE, the specialist armour developed by the Brits out of the WW1 experience for the assault of Europe.

Bradley simply refused them. A visionless incompetent, that is all, and he cost US lives by the tens of thousands and nobody seems willing to own up to this. Later in the assault he became convinced and UK General Sir Percy Hobart was stretched to provide specialist armour to all; UK, Canada and the now the USA.

My point, this is but one of his analyses that is simply erroneous, there are others.

The sad thing is, that Republicans, when in the majority in both the House and the Senate as well as holding the Presidency, failed to govern by any coherent set of principles. Unprincipled leadership is our problem. So, as unprincipled as Obama and the democrats are, the Republicans have not made the case effectively that they can govern or change things in any manner but in degree. The lesser of two evils is still evil. Sadly, this has become our only choice. Are there no more virtuous, principled, truly intelligent, non-ideological leaders among the 300+ million of us?

Even as far back as the early 19th century, Tocqueville commented that he was impressed with the quality of the "common man" in the United States and surprised by the poor quality of men serving in government. It has gotten worse because of a biased, dishonest media and academia and selfishness among the people and a loss of desire to be truly free, independent citizens.
