Regards to Dogma and Ergolatin

Soo, you have some very obvious flaws in what you know.
String theory, dark matter, and quarks are not pseudoscience. They have a real basis and can be experimented with to some degree. Dark Matter for example, like Black Holes, we can see the affect of what it is doing but not what it is.

However telepathy,no way. Never in human history has there been a true psychic of any sort. It is that medieval way of thinking that brings us down. It is a nice thought tho and if someday we accomplish it I am sure things will change but as of yet, no. Perhaps you should check out james randi sometime and watch him discredit every psychic that has dared challenge him.

Also, if you did know anything about string theory, you would know the 4th dimension is time. Not some telepathic non-sense. Furthermore, if you did watch carl sagan he would've explained this and you would know. Each dimension creates an illusion of a dimension above it. 3rd dimension creates the illusion of time therefore making it the 4th.

As for the whole communication thing, they are working on it. Unless you are contributing in some way, you have absolutely no right to complain about their current methods. Yes SETI is a long shot, they've known this from the start. However technology is advancing and we are getting better with quantum entanglement which will change communication forever.

In regards to aliens being out there and the 1 in 1,000,000,000,000 chance of finding them..well at least it is better than not doing it at all.

Lastly, your reference to Newtonian physics (dogma).
You know what bothers me? You act like this was thrown out soon as Einstein came along. If you ever took any physics in college you would know they teach Newtonian physics aka classical mechanics. Newton was not wrong about any of his physics, he just never finished it. He was far more into theology, alchemy and light.
F=ma, F= G*((m1*m2)/r^2), etc are still used. All Einstein did was improve upon newton, not discredit him. Even then, Einstein wouldn't have been successful if it wasn't for Eddington putting his 2 cents in.

Saganist is right, perhaps you do need to go back to youtube and watch more pseudo science videos. I am sure you will find plenty of anti-gravity and perpetual motion vids you can gawk over for hours and think that person knows what they are talkin about.

You got that right! Love the details, really brings another level of understanding (and it's freakin' cool)!

So I think I have this down;(simply put) the waves are wide enough to 'not see' the distances between the individual dishes? I think she said it is akin to the space between the tiles IN a dish and how they do not affect the information collected. That is awesome.
Also, adjusting the way dishes relay info to get an even wider view, fantastic!

'Impossible' is very extreme thinking.

@ErgoLatin: Honestly I did laugh (I wasn't expecting you to say that! Glad you did though)...BUT...
@saganist: We know so little about our existence and the inner workings of the universe that I don't think that we should ever completely shut out other possibilities from our mind.

I DOthink that skepticism and realistic thinking is healthy and we should probably stick to what we know will give us greater chances (SETI), not reduce them (telepathy).

Just my 2c...

Does she always speak with her eyes closed? That was very distracting. I don't think I heard one thing she said until I listened to the audio and did something else with my eyes.

I am sorry to be the one to say the obvious, but SETI is a dinosaur, and it needs to die off like one, too. Look no further SETI, ETs are in our own backyard and we are too cowardly (or stupid) to even acknowledge their existence– even though they are being filmed and photographed every hour of every day in every corer of the world.

Alas, no. We keep doggedly believing that we are THE supreme civilization with our oversized satellite dishes waiting to accidentally pick up a Martian football game.

I apologize if I sound acrimonious, but people, come on. W-a-k-e u-p. The transistor radio was just invented a hundred years or so ago... and we think we are advanced? HA! Imagine that there are races out there, MILLIONS of years more advanced than us, traveling not over conventional space/time but through artificial wormholes.

It's a bit like making a chimpanzee in the wild prove that men and airplanes and quantum physics exist.

ARE they here is not the debate. That's done. Cooked. Over with. The real question is WHY are they here and WHO are the "good" ones.

Saganist, what century are you from, exactly? You sound like someone still up to his tits in Newtonian physics. Have you heard of String Theory? or Dark Matter? or Quarks? Is that pseudo science too, since they are all just basically theories?

You sound like you could stand to log on a few YouTube hours.

In fact, you can start with this video by your hero Carl Sagan, talking about a 4th dimension... then just replace the basic concept of a 4th dimension with telepathy and then you'll see why perhaps it hasn't be "proven" (yet).

SETI's attempt to communicate successfully is like someone yelling on a remote island and someone on the main land hearing them.
