But he did not deny that global climate change is a serious issue. Never did he say anything remotely close to that. He is not denying global warming (and he is not a climate scientist!). He is criticising ECONOMIC POLICY dealing with climate change. For example, he claims that investing in "green technology" is much much better than doing carbon caps.
Actually, this mistake is not your fault. ForaTv is wrong in tagging him as an "Eco-sceptic" - as are most media organizations.
This guy is an excellent illustration that When people are not responsible for what they say, they can say any BS and get away with it as long as they say it eloquently.
The proof is that he won't put his money where his mouth is: no wonder that he refused to bet with me our old-age pensions if in twenty years time the world has discovered that climate change has destroyed or will destroy vast swaths of the planet.
He is not that sure about the problem or the solution, but is still willing to peddle assinine comments that promote inaction, that everything indicates will lead the destruction of civilization.
Danny can't see that you've made your point there - the hallmark of an honest intellectual is that he/she WILL change his/her position when their comprehension of the facts changes. How is it any strike against Lomborg that he modified his position?
The mark of a dishonest intellectual is that he/she will cling to their positions out of ego or self-interest long after the facts have contradicted them. This is very much the position that many scientists in the greenhouse warming crew find themselves in.
You might not read widely enough to know that the earth's atmophere hasn't warmed in over a decade. Or that the Vostok ice core samples have established that CO2 increases historically FOLLOW warming and not the other way around. Or that Antarctic ice melt is at its lowest in the satellite era. Or that the Maldives are at a lower sea level than they were in 1800. Or that scientists the caliber of Will Happer at Princeton, Richard Lindzen at MIT, Willie Soon at Harvard, Nobel physicist Ivar Giaevar all consider global warming science to be fraudulent.
So maybe you should listen to Lomborg. Because you and millions of others are going to have to change the way YOU think about climate change in the very near future. Trust me, it's coming.
Why listen to him? First he denied that climate change was a serious problem. When he couldn't deny that any longer, he said we should spend money on other things instead (like curing Malaria, etc.). Now that the dangers of climate change are clear and imminent, he says "Listen to me, I'll tell you how to solve the problem!".
