Congressman Barney Frank and author Stuart Weisberg discuss their highly anticipated political biography, Barney Frank: The Story of America's Only Left-Handed, Gay, Jewish Congressman. The book covers everything from Frank's working-class childhood and years at Harvard to Boston politics and his rise as one of the most influential legislators in Washington.
Barnett "Barney" Frank is an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives. From 2007 to 2011, Frank served as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.
He is a Democrat and has represented Massachusetts's 4th congressional district since 1981. The district includes many of Boston's southern suburbs--such as Brookline, Newton and Foxborough--as well as the South Coast.
Stuart Weisberg, author of Barney Frank: The Story of America's Only Left-Handed, Gay, Jewish Congressman, is an attorney who spent ten years as staff director and chief counsel for the House Government Operations Subcommittee on Employment and Housing. During the Clinton administration, he served as chair of the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission, an independent federal adjudicative agency.
Barney Frank is a hoot - unfortunately this interesting exposition is seriously marred by the last two minutes being largely loud static. Maybe a lip-reader could figure it out. Watch / listen to it anyway.
