Although long, I was glued to this discussion and highly recommend it to anyone that wishes to compare just how many similarities there are between what was going on behind the scenes in Vietnam and now in both Iraq and especially Afghanistan. Ellsberg and Dean expose the truth behind the Pentagon Papers and the roll they played in our history.

This is a fascinating talk. I concur with the other posters here that it is well worth the two hours to watch.

I saw The Most Dangerous Man in America (the film) the other week at the Monica Theater in Santa Monica, California, the theater and screening mentioned at the outset of this video. The Monica is just a few blocks away from RAND's world headquarters from which Ellsberg smuggled the Pentagon Papers 40 years prior. Ellsberg was on hand after the screening taking questions from the audience. It was, for me, a real honor to hear Mr. Ellsberg speak in person. I was a boy when the Vietnam War was on and those times made a lasting impression on me: the protests, the television coverage, Kent State, etc. I remembered Ellsberg's name, but, seeing the film really put some of the events I'd remembered somewhat confusedly from my early teens into perspective.

After the screening I cruised past the RAND building. It was somewhat eerie to do so after just having seen the film. Go see the film. It is gripping.

I don't know how he'd feel about the company, but, along with Ho Chi Minh, I consider Ellsberg to be one of the most fascinating figures of the twentieth century. He's a brilliant and courageous man.

God. I just have to add (after watching this a second time):

Ellsberg is one ballsy son-of-a-bitch to have done what he did.

And where are the Ellsbergs of today? Is everyone so cowed by power or caged by the need to keep up appearances?

OK. That's enough from me.
