David A. Kessler - David A. Kessler, M.D., is the Dean of the School of Medicine and the Vice Chancellor for Medical Affairs at the University of California, San Francisco. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Kessler served for six years as the Dean of the Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Kessler, who served as Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration from November 1990 until March 1997, was appointed by President George H. W. Bush and reappointed by President Clinton. As Commissioner of the FDA, he acted to speed approval of new drugs and placed high priority on getting promising therapies for serious and life-threatening diseases to patients as quickly as possible. He introduced changes in the device approval process to make it more efficient and ensure that it meets high standards.
Under his direction, the FDA announced a number of new programs, including: user fees for drugs and biologics; the regulation of the marketing and sale of tobacco products to children; and preventive controls to improve food safety.

Most of us know what it feels like to fall under the spell of food when one slice of pizza turns into half a pie, or a handful of chips lead to an empty bag. But it is harder to understand why we cannot seem to stop eating even when we know better.
As commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the 1990s, Dr. David Kessler famously took on the tobacco industry and won. Now, his sights are set on another big business that manipulates consumers into a lifetime of poor health and disease: the food industry.
Remember the potato chip ad with Mark Messier ? "Bet you can't eat just one!" This interesting presentation gives insight into why. The parallels with the cigarette industry are also noteworthy.
For me, overeating is just in the mind. For those who tend to abuse this "freedom", strict adherence to the the plan should be implemented. Anyway, if the mind wants to stop overeating, the body can't do nothing but to follow. hampers
you can contact DemocracyNow.org for the graphs. they interviewed Dr. Kessler where he gave the same lecture on their news show. you can also google his lecture followed by "pdf" good luck.
Dr. David Kessler is a food Nazi. We should be thankful we live in a world where food is so readily available. The only real solution will be drugs that tell our body to stop storing fat or control our appetite. We are built to assume a world of starvation and high physical activity.
You would have to start at small, community levels. I know I personally lost 50lbs when I moved to a downtown and had to walk everywhere. When I moved back to a suburb, I gained all that weight back and then some, no matter how much I go to the gym.
