GD misplaced environmentalist dogma!!!! Reduce mercury good idea, reduce diesel engine soot, terrible idea. The new new Tier 4 diesel engine requirements are so onerous that durability, reliability and fuel efficiency have all been given up to make cleaner exhaust. That right, the EPA has ordered a decrease in fuel efficiency and increase in greenhouse gas production just to reduce a little particulate matter. Manufacturers have been forced to adopt unreliable technologies like ultra high pressure injectors (20,000psi+) that end users like me have to put up with. EPA and California's highway regulations were so restrictive that the worlds largest diesel engine maker, Caterpillar, just stopped making truck engines and ended several thousand American jobs in the middle of a recession. Good job EPA >
