Bio
Martin Giles
Martin Giles is a Senior Business Correspondent for The Economist based in New York City, where he covers a range of business and financial issues. Prior to taking up this role in 2008, Mr Giles spent ten years on the commercial side of The Economist Group, latterly as Executive Vice-president of the Group's North American operations.
Prior to joining the commercial side of the company, he was editor of The Economist’s finance and economics section, and previously spent time as a reporter in both London and Paris. Mr Giles earned an MA degree from Oxford University and has an executive MBA from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business.
He is a trustee of a British charity that supports students who wish to become financial journalists and sits on the Advisory Council of the Royal Institute of International Affairs.
Katherine Hagan
Katherine C. Hagan is Marketing Director, Environmental Sustainability at The Clorox Company. Her responsibilities include gathering and sharing eco consumer insights, driving eco growth opportunities and co-leading eco assessments of the business units.
Prior to assuming this post in January, 2008, Hagan served in several senior marketing positions at The Clorox Company including the Marketing Center of Expertise, Cleaning Division New Product Development Group, and several brand management positions in the water filtration, food and cat litter businesses.
Before joining Clorox in 1995, Hagan held the position of financial analyst at Salomon Brothers in New York and Hong Kong, and equity research analyst at Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia in Hong Kong.
Matthew Heim
Matthew Heim joined NineSigma in August 2008 as President. Heim has more than 25 years of international management experience in the consulting and strategic planning industries, including serving nine years as a managing partner of Clarkston Consulting, a leading management and technology consulting firm.
Heim spent the majority of his career working in the areas of strategic visioning, corporate turnarounds, innovation planning and large-scale systems change. At Clarkston Consulting, Heim led the strategic services group, where he was responsible for P&L, development, sales and delivery of all client-related strategic services.
Heim began his career in the United States Army as a German interpreter and telecommunications specialist. Following his military service, he worked in a variety of management and executive roles, including managing director with Coopers & Lybrand/ PriceWaterhouseCoopers; principal at KPMG Peat Marwick Consulting in Frankfurt, Germany; and senior project director at TechDyn Systems Corporation in Heidelberg, Germany.
Christine Owens
As Senior Vice-president of communications and brand management, Christine M. Owens has global responsibility for Public Relations, Employee Communications, Customer Communications, Advertising and Brand Management.
Owens is a member of the UPS Management Committee, which oversees the day-to-day management of the company.
Prior to her current position, Owens served as UPS's vice president for transportation where she directed the coordination, planning, and utilization of the UPS transportation network.
