Stephen E. Biegun - Stephen E. Biegun is a corporate officer and vice president of International Governmental Affairs for Ford Motor Company. In this role for Ford, Mr. Biegun oversees all aspects of Ford’s international governmental relations, including trade strategy and political risk assessment.
Prior to joining Ford, Mr. Biegun served as national security advisor to Senate Majority Leader, Senator Bill Frist, M.D. In this capacity, he provided analysis and strategic planning for the Senate's consideration of foreign policy, defense and intelligence matters, and international trade agreements.
Before joining the staff of the Majority Leader, Mr. Biegun worked in the White House from 2001-2003 as Executive Secretary of the National Security Council. He served as a senior staff member to the National Security Advisor, Condoleezza Rice, and performed the function of chief operating officer for the National Security Council.
Prior to joining the White House staff, Mr. Biegun served for 14 years as a foreign policy advisor to members of both the House of Representatives and the United States Senate. During this time, he also held the position of Chief of Staff of the United States Senate Committee on Foreign Relations from 1999-2000 and was the Committee's senior professional staff member for European affairs from 1994-1998. In addition, Mr. Biegun served as a staff member of the United States House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs for six years. In this role, he was responsible for the foreign assistance budget, trade policy, and European affairs.
Amb Richard Burt - Ambassador Richard Burt is Senior Director at McLarty Associates, was editor of Survival from 1976-1977. This was part of a longer stay as an IISS research associate and then Assistant Director at the IISS. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the IISS-US.
Carla Robbins - Carla Robbins joined the editorial board in July 2006 and became deputy editor in January 2007. Ms. Robbins was previously The Wall Street Journal's chief diplomatic correspondent and edited the Washington bureau's feature articles on foreign policy, defense and national security. She covered Central and Latin America for U.S. News & World Report and began her career at Business Week.
Ms. Robbins received the 2003 Georgetown University Weintal Prize for diplomatic reporting. She also shared in two Pulitzer Prizes at the Journal and other reporting prizes and was a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University. Ms. Robbins is a graduate of Wellesley College and holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.
