Representative James Clyburn
James Clyburn is a member of the United States House of Representatives for the 6th congressional district of South Carolina (map). A Democrat, he represents South Carolina's only majority-black district, which includes Florence, Sumter and large portions of Columbia and Charleston.
He is the House Majority Whip in the 110th Congress, and is the third-ranking Democrat in the House behind House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. He is the second African American (behind Bill Gray of Pennsylvania) and the first South Carolinian to hold the position.
Representative Rahm Emanuel
Rahm Emanuel has represented the 5th District of Illinois in the US House of Representatives from 2003 until his resignation in 2009. Rep. Emanuel serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, which oversees taxes, trade, Social Security, and Medicare issues, and he is chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. In January 2007, he was elected to serve as Democratic Caucus chair. He began his career with the consumer rights organization Illinois Public Action. He worked on Paul Simon’s 1984 election to the US Senate and in 1989 served as a senior advisor and chief fund-raiser for Richard M. Daley. He also served as a senior advisor to President Bill Clinton. After leaving the White House, he returned to Chicago to serve as a managing director at a leading global investment bank.
Barney Frank
Barnett "Barney" Frank is an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives. From 2007 to 2011, Frank served as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee.
He is a Democrat and has represented Massachusetts's 4th congressional district since 1981. The district includes many of Boston's southern suburbs--such as Brookline, Newton and Foxborough--as well as the South Coast.
Representative Steny Hoyer
Congressman Steny H. Hoyer represents Maryland's Fifth Congressional District, which includes Calvert, Charles and St. Mary's counties and portions of Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties. A resident of Mechanicsville serving his 14th term in Congress, Congressman Hoyer became the longest-serving Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Maryland in history on June 4, 2007.
In November 2006, Congressman Hoyer was elected by his colleagues in the Democratic Caucus to serve as House Majority Leader in the 110th Congress. His election as Majority Leader - which is the second-highest position in the House - makes him the highest-ranking Member of Congress from Maryland in history.
Representative Nancy Pelosi
Since 1987, Nancy Pelosi has represented California's Eighth District in the House of Representatives. The Eighth District includes most of the City of San Francisco, including Golden Gate Park, Fisherman's Wharf, Chinatown, and many of the diverse neighborhoods that make San Francisco a vibrant and prosperous community.
Overwhelmingly elected by her colleagues in the fall of 2002 as Democratic Leader of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi is the first woman in American history to lead a major party in the U.S. Congress. Before being elected leader, she served as House Democratic Whip for one year and was responsible for the party's legislative strategy in the House. Nancy Pelosi was Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.
