John Hofmeister, former CEO of Shell Oil Co. and founder of Citizens for Affordable Energy, suggests that America's current energy crisis is due to an inherent flaw in the U.S. government, and that fairly radical steps may need to be taken to remedy it.

John D. Hofmeister
John Hofmeister is the founder of Citizens for Affordable Energy. He is the former president of Shell Oil Company.
I listened to Mr. Hofmeister's thoughts with great interest. There is so much historical mistrust for oil companies and their executives that Hofmeister is really putting himself out there and setting himself up for attacks. I looked at his site afew weeks ago, Citizens for Affordable Energy (citizensforaffordableenergy.org) and was very impressed.
You may not agree with everything Hofmeister says, but there is no question that we have to get this out of the hands of bipartisan politicians and develop a plan and an infrastrucutre to energy delivery in this country for our futures and our children. We have to fund, explore and develop alternative sources and develop our domestic resources. The world will be a very different place in 2040 and we have to prepare now.
As an environmental scientist I can honestly say everyone should be very scared. Please check out 350.org or wecansolveit.org for more info on climate change. Or Audubon Society, GreenPeace, Sierra Club, the Pew Center, etc. etc, etc. Get involved and use your voices any way you can to catch the ear of the new administration. Also, please push for the President to attend the upcoming climate change conference in Poland. What good for the environment is good for America. Thanks from Western PA.
