I think the way world is now (and probabl will be for some more time) the european peaceful policy will not work and the foreign policy cooperation and strong and influential europe would be a superpower, even with the chances of notion of wester world devided into two parts because of that reason. I don't think it is a good idea at all

Will Eu ever become a superpower?

It depends on the meaning of Superpower. From the standpoint of the balance of power, it seems that as long as the United States remain the dominant power on the world stage, and the international institutions that were created in the post WWII era remains, then there's no interest in the EU trying to compete with the United States. There certainly is a place for European involvement in the world. This area necessitates Soft Power in the context of humanitarian, and economic issues.
