Dr. Julie Gerberding
CDC Director Julie Louise Gerberding, MD, MPH has been leading the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and served as the administrator of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) since July 2002.
She also serves as a clinical professor of medicine at Emory University and an associate professor of medicine at the University of California at San Francisco.
Dr. John Maa
Dr. John Maa is a surgeon who specializes in treating gastrointestinal cancer. He earned a doctoral degree in medicine at Harvard Medical School and served as a captain in the medical corps of the U.S. Army for nine years. During a general surgical residency at UCSF, Maa was awarded a National Institutes of Health Gastrointestinal Research training grant and published numerous scientific articles on pancreatic and gastrointestinal inflammation. Maa, who received a patent for his invention of a central venous catheter, is certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Maa is the president of the board of directors of the American Heart Association in San Mateo County and a member of the board of directors of the National Institute for Pharmaco-Economics and Healthcare Policy. He participates on several advisory boards and committees that focus on improving care in hospitals and is a Health Care Policy Research Fellow at the UCSF Institute of Health Policy Studies, exploring mechanisms to improve the overall structure and processes of general surgical care nationally. Maa also is an assistant professor in general surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.

Larree Renda
Larree M. Renda serves as chief strategist officer and chief administrative officer of Safeway, Inc.
Ms. Renda is also executive vice president of human resources and public affairs, reengineering, retail operations, communications, labor and government relations of Genuardi's Family Markets, Inc. Genuardi's has been a regional division of Safeway, Inc. since 2001.
Renda joined Safeway, Inc. in 1974, has been an executive officer since 1991, and served as its senior vice president from 1994 to 1999 and a vice president from 1991 to 1994. Ms. Renda has served in her current executive vice president position since 1999.
She is chairwoman of the board of Safeway Foundation and a director of Casa Ley, S.A. de C.V., a Mexican retailer of food and general merchandise. Ms. Renda has been a director of Household International Inc. since 2001 and a member of its audit committee. She has been a director of HSBC Finance Corp. since 2001.
Nancy Snyderman
Dr. Nancy Snyderman joined NBC News as the chief medical editor in September 2006. Her reports appear on "Today," "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," "Dateline NBC," MSNBC, and MSNBC.com.
Snyderman has reported on wide-ranging medical topics affecting both men and women and has traveled the world extensively, reporting from many of its most troubled areas. She is on staff in the Department of the Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining NBC News, Snyderman served as vice president of consumer education for the health care corporation Johnson & Johnson. There she led the independent educational initiative, Understanding Health, focusing on educating and informing the public about health and medicine.
Before that, Snyderman served as the medical correspondent for ABC News for 17 years and was a contributor to "20/20," "Primetime," and "Good Morning America." Prior to leaving ABC she was a frequent substitute co-host on "Good Morning America."
Snyderman attended medical school at the University of Nebraska and continued with residencies in Pediatrics and Ear, Nose, and Throat Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. She joined the surgical staff at the University of Arkansas in 1983 and began her broadcasting career shortly after at KATV, the ABC affiliate in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Daniel Zingale
Daniel Zingale resigned from the Agricultural Labor Relations Board of California in November of 2005. He is the current chief of staff to First Lady Maria Shriver and deputy chief of staff to Governor Schwarzenegger.
