The American Jewish Committee held a conference with Ana Palacio and Shaul Mofaz to discuss Israel's 60 years of existence and to figure out how Israel should move forward into a future full of complications with countries like Iran.
Shaul Mofaz is the current Israeli Minister of Transportation and a Deputy Prime Minister, and a former Minister of Defense. Previously he was the 16th Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces, and was the second Israeli of a Mizrahi background to achieve that post.
Ana Isabel de Palacio was Spain's Minister for Foreign Affairs in the People's Party (PP) government of Jose Maria Aznar from July 2002-March 2004. Before this she was a lawyer in Madrid and then a Member of the European Parliament from 1994 to 2002.
Shaul Mofaz questions "who will lead" the Middle East and who then, in turn, will lead those leaders.
Mofaz reminds global players that there is "no peace without security" and peace can only be achieved through fighting against terrorism, following the road map, and working with the region as a whole.
