John Markoff - John Markoff began writing about technology in 1976 freelancing for a number of publications including the Nation, Mother Jones and Saturday Review. In 1988, he moved to New York to join The New York Times as a reporter for the paper's business section and now writes for the Times from San Francisco where he covers Silicon Valley.
At the Times he broke the story identifying Robert Tappan Morris, son of National Security Agency cryptographer Robert Morris, as the author of what would become known as the Internet worm. Markoff holds degrees from Whitman College in Washington and University of Oregon.
Paul Saffo - Paul Saffo is a forecaster and strategist with over two decades experience exploring long-term technological change and its practical impact on business and society.
Saffo is Chairman of the Samsung Science Board, and serves on a variety of other boards and advisory panels, including the Stanford Advisory Council on Science, Technology and Society, and the Long Now Foundation, as well as the boards of several public and pre-public companies located the United States and abroad. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and has served as an advisor and Forum Fellow to the World Economic Forum, which in the late 1990s named Saffo one of its "100 Global Leaders For Tomorrow."
Joe Schoendorf - Joe Schoendorf has been active in high technology industries for nearly forty years.
Schoendorf is a member and strategic partner of the World Economic Forum and has served as a consultant to the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in Japan. He is able to help our portfolio management establish significant strategic global relationships in the US, Europe and Asia with a strong focus on China and Japan. Joe has participated as a Board member in industry pioneers such as Macromedia (Authorware).
Schoendorf joined Accel in 1988. Previously he was the Vice President of Marketing for Apple Computer. Before that he was Executive Vice President for Worldwide Sales and Marketing for Ungermann-Bass and a member of the Office of the President. Prior to that he was the CEO of Industrial Networking, a joint venture of Ungermann-Bass and General Electric.
Schoendorf came to Silicon Valley in 1966. During an eighteen year career at Hewlett Packard he held numerous computer marketing and sales positions including Group Marketing Manager, General Manager of Business Development and General Manager of the Corporate Account Division overseeing all worldwide large accounts.
Schoendorf holds a B.S.E.E. degree from Purdue University and has served on the Dean's Advisory Council at Purdue's Krannert School of Business.
Schoendorf and his wife Nancy, also a venture capitalist, live in Palo Alto with their daughter Megan. Their other daughter Kathryn is living in Washington, D.C. and works for NPR.
